Insulin Unbalance as Obesity

Many cases of obesity are caused by the imbalance of insulin hormone. Insulin allows the body to take advantage of glucose (sugar) and carbon hydride. Factors such as genetic predisposition, food allergy, eating habits and stress may interfere with the use of glucose and carbohydrates; also known as glucose intolerance. Excessive sugar consumption (refined carbohydrates) can contribute to glucose intolerance and obesity.

If insulin is not cleared rapidly from the bloodstream after meals, the person will feel hungry. Usually, insulin sends a signal to stop feeding the body, but it can eat more if there are chronic high glucose levels that are caused by insufficient insulin in the person. Thus, if a person eats more refined carbohydrates, it may become even hungry. Research shows that overweight people burn less sugar than their regular counterparts, and dietary practices only make this problem worse. The same research also shows that this feature is an integral part of a consequence of obesity.

If a overweight person becomes obese, the insulin problems become worse because the person begins to respond less to insulin activity. In such a person, simple carbohydrates trigger the secretion of more insulin, but the body can not effectively use it. As a result, high insulin levels are seen in overweight people. It appears that the functions of insulin receptors in body cells are blocked. This prevents insulin stimulation of glucose transfer to the cells in order to provide energy, which is an explanation of why people overweight feel often tired. The worse situation is that because insulin can not turn glucose into energy, it can reach more glucose in your fat cells to produce fat.

As a result, both the insulin receptor and the pancreas itself wear out or become tired and this leads to diabetes. This excess insulin in overweight people can cause the following problems and complications:
Increased salt and water accumulation
Insomnia-induced sleep disturbances interacting with neurotransmitters
More LDL or bad cholesterol production due to insulin stimulation by the liver
The thyroid hormone interacts with the thyroxine, thus worsening the low metabolism
More desire for hypoglycemia, hunger and simple carbohydrates

These factors show why sugar and simple carbohydrates are so harmful for American health. The number of overweight and obese people in this country is constantly rising and the problem will continue to get worse as long as health leaders do not learn the truth and fulfill their responsibilities to inform their citizens about these facts. In the U.S., there are so many products that contribute to obesity in all baked goods, from breads to beverages, and it is very difficult for a person to maintain a healthy diet.
